Senior Credit Risk Manager
About the role
The purpose of this role is to define the credit strategy and policy for Romania, with a focus on supporting business growth. Expertise in retail lending, including loans and credit cards, is essential to ensure an effective and market-adapted approach.
Additionally, you will collaborate with the employee's counterparts from the UK and European markets, as well as employees from the finance, sales, and marketing departments, to develop and deliver the general credit and collection strategy and plans for the Romanian market.
Here's what you'll do:
- Coordinate cross-functional activities with corresponding departments (Operations, Customer Care, Marketing, IT, HR, Product).
- Develop and implement the credit strategy for retail lending products — personal loans, credit cards, and digital lending — by incorporating new systems, risk strategies and policies, data modeling, scorecards, acceptance processes, and credit management rules within credit policy parameters.
- Develop programs for the entire lifecycle of credit cards, including initiation, limit approval, activation, usage, cross-sell, upsell, and retention.
- Develop creative approaches for customer segmentation and product development for both personal loans and credit cards.
- Propose, implement, and monitor credit and debt recovery policies for personal loans and credit cards. You will ensure the implementation of appropriate plans to maximize opportunities while anticipating, managing, and mitigating business risks.
- Collaborate with European partners to develop and implement credit risk models for lending, in accordance with established risk policies.
- Maintain the relationship with the Credit Risk Center of the National Bank of Romania as an accredited administrator in the process of transmitting and receiving credit risk information. You will also maintain the relationship with the National Agency for Fiscal Administration, serving as an accredited administrator responsible for authorizing employees to query the agency's database and perform monthly reporting under the collaboration protocol.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the debt recovery department, and where applicable, the soft collections center. You will monitor the portfolio of delinquent customers and establish necessary measures in accordance with the specific procedures of the Credit Risk Control Department.
- Ensure that the organization has the necessary resources to meet current and future business needs, including supporting talent development through attracting, developing, and retaining high-quality employees. You will implement succession plans for all key credit positions.
- Verify and manage credit documentation received from the Sales department, as well as supporting documents for payments made by the company's customers, respecting established deadlines and complying with the company's internal procedures.
What are we looking for?
- A degree in statistics, mathematics, or economics.
- In-depth knowledge of processes and systems specific to credit risk management.
- A deep understanding of Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) and its impact on the company.
- Strong knowledge of all aspects of customer credit.
- Solid understanding of key business drivers.
- Up-to-date knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in lending (both unsecured loans and credit cards) and senior-level risk management, preferably in remote unsecured lending.
- Capacity for analyzing current processes and provide alternative solutions to simplify them or improve outcomes.
